So, if you're reading this you obviously want to figure out the best ways to get traffic to your website? Many new website owners have been mistakenly told that "build it and they will come" is a viable and successful way to get website traffic. This is actually furthest from the truth. A good ecommerce website can be set up in as little as an hour, with a couple of hours tweaking designs, formatting optimal image sizes etc. Writing good content for product pages takes a bit of time, but once you get started, and get into the swing of it, you should be able to knock out about 400 words for a product page in about 15-20 mins per page. But by far the thing that is going to take up most of your time moving forward is working on ways to get traffic to your site. It's a tough thing to do and something that everyone who has started a website, blog or even social media accounts, has to consider a priority if they want their business to succeed.

Notwithstanding this, there are a range of ways to get people coming to your site.

Some of them can be setup and get results in no time, while others can literally take months to see any sort of result. Some of them cost money while others are free. Some of them take a lot of work and some of them take almost none. You should be aware of, and be prepared to use all of them at various times in the building of your business.

Organic Traffic To Your Website

In an ideal world, organic traffic is the best solution, as this is essentially the closest thing you will get to the "build it and they will come" model.

However, getting organic traffic to your website takes a lot of work over a long period of time. It is definitely not something that can be done quickly.

The term "organic traffic‟ refers to visitors that find your site by clicking on organic search engine results that are presented to them when they use a search engine such as Google to search for keywords you rank for. To do this, you need to employ search engine optimization (SEO) to help get your high-quality content ranking higher on the search engines.

For example, if your site was ranked on the first page for the keyword “best gym” then the traffic that you got from visitors who click on your site would be organic. The problem with this is that it takes a long time for most websites to reach the front page of search results. In fact, most new sites will never reach it at all for difficult keywords that are already monopolised by major corporations, and instead rely on what are called “long-tail keywords” to get traffic to their site. Long tail keywords are a string of words similar to the difficult keywords mentioned above, but with extra words to "narrow down" the consumers search. For example, if we used the previous "best gym" keyword, a long tail keyword for this might be “best gym that is near me and open 24 hours” and if you write content on your site using this string of words, your site might come up on the front page.

Luckily for us all, this isn't the only way to get traffic to your website. There are other ways you can implement to start getting traffic as soon as a couple of hours. You should still work on getting organic traffic as your long term strategy, and provides totally free traffic.

In the meantime, while you are building web traffic using this strategy, you can do other things to increase your website visitors and drive traffic to your site.

Fastest Methods of Getting Visitors

Let's discuss a few of the ways to get visitors to your site quickly.

We will dive into each way and give you a run down on how it works and what strategies can be used to get the most traffic and the best returns.

Here are nine of the fastest ways to get people to your site quickly.

Facebook

There are three aspects to Facebook that you need to consider to get visitors to your site.

The first is the your businesses Facebook page. You definitely want to have and maintain one, because when people look up your business, Facebook more often than not is one of the top listings in the search engines results. Facebook has a lot of authority on the internet, and you may find at times a businesses Facebook page will out rank their actual website, particularly if your business name isn't entirely unique.

The second thing to consider is promoting your business by linking comments in other peoples posts to your business. This can seem spammy, and many groups do not allow self promotion, however there are some that do. Look for groups in your niche, and offer a link to a blog article you have written that might answer a question that has been asked. You could also join groups linked to your buy now pay later payment gateways like Zippay or Afterpay, and promote yourself in these when allowed.

The final thing to consider is Facebook advertising. Facebook advertising can be extremely effective depending on your niche, and so long as you adhere to Facebooks community standards. Advertising this way will tend to get visitors to your site really fast. You don‟t need a Facebook page in order to advertise with Facebook, but it does help. A word of caution though, Facebook advertising is expensive, but can be worth the money if you know how to use it properly. As such, its important to either pay someone to do it for you, or learn how to do it yourself properly BEFORE you start handing over the cash. Just remember, learning about Facebook advertising can be a bit of a steep learning curve, however perserverance can pay off.

Note: These methods can get visitors to your site quickly, but obviously, paid advertising with Facebook is going to yield much faster results than setting up a Facebook page, getting people to subscribe to your page and hoping they see and want to know more about updates you post to the page. Just remember, many people just come to Facebook to be entertained, with no intention of buying anything, so its sometimes better to consider Facebook an opportunity to improve brand awareness rather than improve your conversion rates.

Facebook Advertising To Drive Traffic

YouTube

YouTube is the worlds second largest search engine. If you aren't on there, you need to be. Video content is next level and you need to make sure you do it properly, so take your time and use the visibility YouTube will give you to drive good quality traffic.

Twitter

Most people have a Twitter account that they use for social purposes. You can also use Twitter to promote your website and get some pretty fast results. A word of caution though, if your over promote commercial products and services on Twitter without providing either entertainment or value to people, you may soon find yourself without any followers.

Twitter does have its own advertising program as well. The minimum audience requirement is a little bigger with Twitter compared to Facebook, however the features are basically the same. Like Facebook, you can target potential visitors to your site via Twitter advertising, and you can even choose who specifically you want to target, based upon the demographic you think will be interested. Twitter is definitely a tool that you could implement to bring visitors to your site, but any paid social media advertising is going to cost you money. You could very quickly find you are overspending on your marketing budget by advrtising on more than one or two social media platforms. Like organic traffic using SEO with search engines, building a social media following organicly is definitely less expensive, but will take a lot longer.

Instagram & Pinterest

There are a lot of social media platforms these days, and each of them has their own upsides and drawbacks when it comes to advertising and promotion for your business. Instagram and Pinterest are two sites that are particularly well suited for promoting your businesses products and services.

Instagram is really cool, because you can post pictures of what is going on in your business, whether it be an upcoming event, welcoming a new staff member, or a new product launch. People will get interested in your story and the real people behind your logo, and will check out your posts to see what is happening. Its important to remember that most of them have the potential to become your customers.

As for Pinterest, this site allows you to make list of product images and other online assets that people can browse through. Pinterest is entirely about collections, and if your products are included in a collection, then you are basically getting social media promotion at no cost.

An added bonus is that both Instagram and Pinterest offer their own paid advertising options.

Influencers

Influencers can be a bit hit and miss. The key here is not necessarily to find an influencer with a huge following, but one that has a large engagement from their followers. There is no point using an influencer that has over a million followers if the followers arent engaged with the content. In addition to this, smaller influencers may be more inclined to work with you on a pricing structure that you can afford. Influencers just getting started will have a very low volume of followers, however they will be more likely to consider a commission based payment structure, and getting in at the ground level with this kind of arrangement could work well to your advantage long term.

Google Advertising

If you have typed something into Google search and seen the Ad results at the top of the search results, then you are familiar with Google advertising. Google has several different things going at any one time, but one of the main income earners for them is a pay-per-click (PPC) service called Google Ads.

Basically, the way that Google Ads works is that advertisers choose a keyword and then bid to compete for the top spot in the advertising results. These advertising "results" are when your ad is presented to the consumer because they typed in the keyword, or keywords, you have chosen to bid on.

In theory, if you were willing and able to spend sufficient money, your site could be ranked on the first page for something extremely lucrative for your business with high conversion rates. However, unless you have 10's of thousands of dollars, you probably won't be able to compete with the major corporations targeting those keywords. However, dont be deterred, there are literally millions to choose from, and some can be good income generating ones with almost no competition.

In simple terms, to use Google search Ads, you simply sign up for an account, create a campaign with some ads, and set a price you are willing to pay for each time someone clicks on your ad to go to your website. Although this sounds simple, its not, and once again like all the previous paid advertising options, its important to either pay someone to set it up and manage it for you, or for you to undertake some intense learning to make sure you aren't wasting your marketing budget.

Advertising On Related Websites

Related websites are sites that are in your industry. For example, if you had a website that sold fitness products, then you might want to advertise on websites that give fitness advice or forums where people discuss fitness.

For example: the Kindle discussion forums offer banner ads for authors who want to advertise their books. These are so effective because nearly all of the people who visit the Kindle boards are readers, and if they think that the book looks good, there is a good chance of them buying it. Unlike social media's relative hit and miss approach to marketing, advertising on websites that appeal to your target market will yield much higher quality traffic, and you should find much better conversion rates. You should look into whether you can do the same thing with banner ads, PPC ads or any form you want on a website relating to your products, as Kindle does with their discussion forums. As an extra bonus, if you have a link from an related authority website to your own, this will add to your backlink strength and help with your SEO, ultimately helping you rank a little higher in the search engine results.

Guest Posts On Related Websites

Related websites sometimes offer guest posting opportunities so you can increase the profile of your business. These will generally come at a cost, however once they are there, any visitors to that site that see them and click on them, will be free traffic to your site. Publishing blog posts on other sites is a great way to generate referral traffic, provided the post is of a great quality and provides relevant content.

Contributing To Forums

This may sound like old school, but you will be surprised how the forum revolution is growing. Websites like reddit, quora and medium are all opportunites to get backlinks back to your site.

Podcasts

Find podcasts within your niche, and see if you can become a sponsor, or maybe a guest on the podcast. Many business owners who are guests on podcasts claim huge spikes in traffic to their site. That's the only drawback, its a spike, and unless you sponsor and podcast, your high volume of traffic will be short lived. You may see dribs and drabs of traffic come through from time to time, as people listen to old podcasts, but like many social media options, the lifespan of an appearance on a podcast isnt very long.

Press

Another less often considered tool that you might be able to make use of to get visitors to your website quickly is a press release. A press release isn't going to be a viable solution for everyone. In fact, a press release will really only work for certain industries, geographic locations, and websites. Media corporations don't publish press releases just because they are sent to them. In fact, most press releases received by media outlets are thrown away, and only a few newsworthy ones are used.

What this means is that you need to make sure that if you create a press release and send it out, you must have a newsworthy story or event that the press is going to find interesting enough to report on.

You don't have to target just the major media outlets, it could even be just a small publication in your industry. It does have to be newsworthy though to have any chance of success. Stating the obvious, it must be a well written and presented article to capture the attention of the decision makers.

Press Marketing To Drive Traffic

Offline Marketing

Offline marketing is generally more effective if your website caters to people within a specific geographic region. Some of the offline marketing options include television ads, radio broadcasts, newspaper ads, and letterbox drops. Like all advertising, if you want people to start coming to your website, then you need to get creative and try to come up with some unique ways of advertising offline that captures the attention of your audience. Television networks advertise business websites all the time, however as these ads are being advertised to millions of people every time they are played, television ads are extremely expensive and not feasible for most internet marketing businesses or websites. There are still plenty of things that you can do to get visitors to your website, you just have to think outside the box.

Offline Marketing To Drive Traffic

Email Marketing Campaigns

Email marketing is one of the most effective ways of getting people to come to your website. People read their emails even when they don't check the latest social media posts or visit blogs, because emails are personal as they have been sent directly to the recipient. Most people subconsciously regard their email inbox as a sacred place, and if they allow you to send them emails then you have established a relationship of trust already. Trust is a fundamental ingredient in the buying process. One you have gained someones trust by them giving you their email address, like allowing you to send them email newsletters, they are well on their way to buying something from you. However, keep in mind that email marketing is only a fast way to get visitors to come to your website if you already have an email marketing list. Building a quality email list can take a really long time, and as such is not a strategy to use to get quick traffic to your website.

Signatures & Descriptions

Finally, make sure that all of your social media profiles have information about your business in the description. When you post anything at all on social media, whether it is humorous or educational, people will often look at your description to see who you are. If your business information is there, especially a link to your website, then you should be able to drive traffic

to your website using those social media profiles. You should also be using forum and email signatures to get traffic. With an email signature, each and every time you send an email to someone you get a free advertisement. Likewise with forums, every post you make can have a link to your website and that means that you can generate traffic every time you post.

Conclusion

There is a marketing method for every internet business out there. Whether you have money to spend on marketing but no time of your own, or you have plenty time but a limited budget, no matter what your website or situation, you should be able to use one or more of these options to get traffic to your website. Using more than one is definitely recommended. Remember, it is still up to you to convert that traffic once it arrives at your website.
